Rectangle Triggerfish

Rhinecanthus rectangularis

The Belted Triggerfish or Rectangle Triggerfish is easily confused with the Picasso Fish. The Belted Triggerfish has a black caudal peduncle and a broader black band running from the eyes through, the pectorals, to the anal fin. Be forewarned: the two look-alikes are not compatible! They will fight, with one grabbing the other by a pectoral fin and dragging the fish by it.

They grow to 8 inches and require a tank of at least 100 gallons. Care is similar to other triggerfish species.
