The
tiny pygmy filefish grows to only 3 or 4 inches, so it is
easily kept in an aquarium as small as 55 gallons. Its
small size, green coloring, and an unusual round, but
flattened shape make it an interesting aquarium
acquistion.
In
nature this fish is found among bottom coverings of the
waters of South Japan and South Korea. This species
appreciates plent of hiding places in an aquarium, as it
can be shy at first. It eventually gains confidence
enough to swim out in the open.
Once
adjusted to aquarium life, it is fairly hardy and will
accept a variety of foods. Although, this species is more
docile than typical filefish, caution should still be
taken when chosing tank mates.
